I always say that the only difference between a Haitian, Dominican and who ever else in the America's is where the boat stopped. This is typical divide and conquer and people don't realise that this is typical white supremacy talking points.

Beautiful! That Toni Morrison quote is everything. It’s easier to turn on other black folks, women or other vulnerable set of people than it is to consistently call out the monster. More power to you.

Thank you for talking about this topic. As the child of Haitian Immigrants I could never understand xenophobia against black immigrants! Such a needed video!

As a Haitian-American (aka the child of Haitian migrants who has American citizenship via birth), this hit home. Even despite being here all my life, a lot of what you've mentioned resonated. I'm not sure how to communicate this to those who hold the FBA-esque ideologies. But there's work to be done.

The monster was an unwelcomed guest in my Nigerian home. It's so true that a lot of xenophobia towards black immigrants/ antiblackness towards black Americans just stems from ignorance.

Great episode. I am from Sierra Leone and still live there. The histories of all Black people are so connected. The Black's who fought for the British in the American Revolutionary War were the first settlers in the newly established Province of Freedom. There have been several visits and tours of representatives of the Gullah people to Sierra Leone. We are all connected!

GIRL! First, putting your voice to your essays was brilliant! Second, this topic - I want to say it needs to be spoken about - but you are right that it leads to distraction if we give it too much attention. Point it out and move on to tackle the REAL issue. The real reasons we turn on each other in this way. Wonderfully written and delivered.
